Don’t Think Much, Do Much!

Thinking: The action of using your mind to produce ideas, decisions, memories, etc. – Merriam Webster.

By all means, take the time to think. Reflect on past decisions made and on learning experiences that will help you grow into the better person you want to see for yourself. Thinking is an opportunity for clarity, reassessment, and mental preparation for what is ahead in life.

The beauty of thinking is that you have a chance to connect with yourself again in a world that is full of distractions. From politics to podcasts, discounts to discos, tech to “what the heck,” exercise to eating, bills to billboards…I mean the list just goes on…

There’s just so much clutter in our society today that pushes many of us to the brink of schizophrenia with our minds being taken in all sorts of different directions!

…if that song gets stuck in your head like it got stuck in mine back in 1992, you can be sure (for better or for worse) that your mind can be taken to a dark hole with much less effort than you ever thought was possible. Time flies and we’re very often left where we started!

You’re not as disciplined as you may think you are, and that’s okay so long as you train your mental muscle to get you into a hustle.

Doing: The act of making something happen through your own action. – Merriam Webster.

Build. Create. Code. Write. Speak. Call. Run. Draw. Move.

Those words fire me up into action even if the purpose of that action is yet to be defined. I like so many of you want to do more because I believe contribution brings more dignity and purpose into my life and those around me.

Seek clarity about what it is that inspires you to do. Turn your want into your must.

Why should you do more vs. Why must you do more. These are very different questions. Is there a compelling enough reason? How high are the stakes? You alone have the power to turn should into must and in the process make you say;

“Enough is enough. I’m sick and tired of thinking about this, I’m going to do it. I’m going to at least try to do it.”

I believe most of us have the power to create something truly unique yet many of us continue to find ourselves thinking our way out of action and creating reason after reason to stay idle. That truly bothers me and I know it bothers you!

For many of us, it’s hard enough to make the time to think, but I like most of you believe in quality over quantity. When you do have that time alone, make sure you are closer to a decision of physical action that will put you in motion.

Don’t just say it, do it! Don’t just think it, do it! And don’t be afraid to experiment with yourself by doing. If your sudden actions seem to surprise those around you, great! Take it as an opportunity to set an example where you’re acting on your aspirations and curiosities in life. You should be so proud of this!

Even if you’ve tried something out and it turns out it wasn’t for you, don’t get down on yourself. In fact, you should be celebrating that you’ll have one less thing to ever regret not doing at a later stage in life.

Remember, psychologists all agree that we are without a doubt, creatures of habit.

Don’t think much. Do much. Consider that statement an alternative to what may be stopping you from getting into action.

Build. Create. Code. Write. Speak. Call. Run. Draw. Move.

Don’t think much. Do much!
